The people you will work with. Mumbai.

Spectrum Impact is the family office of Mrs. Arti and Mr. Rajendra Gogri, one of the promoter families of Aarti Industries.

We work to solve hard problems in climate, health, education and translational research, with patient capital: equity, debt and grants. Companies get equity and debt. Partner organizations get grants. The two sit side by side on purpose, because some layers of a problem can pay for themselves and some never will. We work closely with every organization we back, as partners, because we believe these problems deserve to be solved, not just funded.

One family, from chemistry.

For four decades the Gogri family has built Aarti Industries. What we know about building things, we learned there, and it is what we bring to the people we back.

Why we exist.

  1. To solve complex problems that matter.
  2. To push solutions to the inflection point, where they take off on their own.
  3. To put the family's resources to work on something that matters beyond returns.

What we do, and what we do not do

Some of what we back is a long shot. We still need most of it to work.

What we value.

  • Integrity.

We say plainly what we will not fund, before a founder spends time on us. Hydrogen in cars is one example.

  • Empathy.

Founders first. We stay close after the money, with coaching, and with more capital when it is actually needed.

  • Curiosity.

We learn a field before we back it. The emissions map we use to judge climate companies grew out of the climate courses Mirik took.

  • Resilience.

We back ideas that take a long time to prove, like thorium reactors, deep geothermal drilling and fusion.

  • Outcome oriented.

We work on whatever actually holds a problem back, even when it is not a company. For truck charging it is a common standard, so it gets grants.

What we helped start.

Capital is one part of the work. The other is getting the right people into the same room. Our team helped start two not-for-profit initiatives, each with partners.

SCALE

Solving for Climate Action by Leveraging the Ecosystem. Mirik founded it during ChemTech's 50th anniversary to bring climate technology to the Indian manufacturers that must adopt it. The first edition, in March 2024, drew about 500 people, 50 exhibitors from around the world and 60 presentations.

ITRI

India's Translational Research Initiative. A collaborative effort across the country, with Mirik as a founding member, to take lab science to market. It works on the gap between a lab result and a working product: technology readiness levels 4 to 7.
